Yu, Huashan is an associate professor in the School of Computer Science. He obtained his B.Eng. from Wuhan University of Technology in 1993, M.Sc. from Peking University in 1996 and Ph.D. from Peking University in 2001 respectively. His research interest is parallel and distributed computing.

Dr. Yu has published more than 30 research papers that are indexed by EI or SCI. He has been among the key developers of several software systems, which have been used to solve complex applications in fields like seismic data processing and bioinformatics. His research has been funded by NSFC, 863, National Key Research and Development Program, etc.

Dr. Yu’s research focuses on complex scientific and engineering computations, including data-parallel computing technology and many-task computing technology. He has developed the HPF compile and runtime system pHPF. The system can significantly reduce the complexity of developing large-scale data-parallel applications. And pHPF has been used for processing remote sensing data and seismic. He also has developed a many-task computing system Harmonia. Harmonia allows a complex application to be developed with existent programs, and it improves the application’s efficiency with shared resources. It has been used for gnome applications like alternative splicing analysis.
