Yang, Chun is an assistant professor in the School of Computer Science. He obtained his B.Sc. from Peking University in 2001, and Ph.D. from Peking University in 2008 respectively. His research interests include computer architecture, operating system and virtualization.
Dr. Yang has published more than 20 research papers, and some of them are published in important conferences and journals, such as VEE, ICCD, DCC, CF and JCST. His research achievements are summarized as follows:
1) Redundancy-free virtual disk I/O and caching: One important research topic in virtualization field is to improve the disk I/O performance of virtual machines. He proposed a new approach to simultaneously eliminating the duplicate I/O traffic and cache copies for virtual machine disks. The proposed approach can effectively improves the per-disk virtual machine density.
2) Virtual disk I/O scheduling for interactive performance and fairness: The shared storage of a virtualized system introduces the performance interference between the interactive and non-interactive workloads. He focused on the I/O scheduling for such mixed workloads, and proposed new solutions for I/O performance isolation and fair allocation of disk I/O bandwidth.
